Thanks and congratulation to become the first for posting article from our group. The author reference the sea level change of Maldivp and others. In this context, I draw our sir’s attention to post his views regarding the the author’s claim of sea level change so that we can co relate the technical issues of sea level change and finally our learning will get momentum by reading such interviews. Thanks

    • Fayjus Salehin says:

Thanks Lutful. I am agreeing with you. We are enthusiastically waiting for the expert opinions, like Shahid sir’s. Sea level rise is the burning issue right now. But it is the most controversial issue as well. The experts are divided. This issue should be solved as early as possible, so that we can concentrate on other firm issues like, rapid population growth, unplanned land use, poor waste management system, river grabbing, deforestation, and so on. Whether sea level is rising or not our vulnerability will be rising with the rapid population growth. People are living in the riskier areas near coast due to no having available land in the inland. Sometimes river erosion is forcing the people to leave their native land. So we should follow the holistic approach concentrating all other important issues as far as Bangladesh is concerned.

    “Morner:
You frighten a lot of scientists. If they say that climate is not changing, they lose their research grants. And some people cannot afford that; they become silent, or a few of us speak up, because we think that it’s for the honesty of science, that we have to do it”

“Morner :in 5,000 years, the whole of theNorthern Hemisphere experienced warming, the HoloceneWarm Optimum, and it was 2.5 degrees warmer than today. And still, no problem with Antarctica, or with Greenland;still, no higher sea level”

where according to national science foundation,

“The current trajectory for the 21st century global rise of sea level is 2 to 3 feet due to warming of the oceans, partial melting of mountain glaciers and partial melting of Greenland and Antarctica.”

this news completely made me confused. he made some strong logic to believe in him. there are also lots of things that suggest climate is changing and sea level rises.
